A second property purchased for a family member — completely bare and needing to be built from scratch into an outdoor sanctuary distinct from the pool-focused first home next door.
The brief was simple: create a space the whole family would love, especially the family member coming to live here. We designed from scratch and ran two crews simultaneously to stay well ahead of schedule, completing everything in just over 2.5 months. The backyard is anchored by a pond with two separate waterfalls that share the same basin — one fed by a stacked stone wall and urn on the raised side of the property, the other a meandering stream along the house side. A decorative urn with a flowing stream effect adds a sculptural water element at ground level. On the raised property edge, a natural stacked stone wall — chosen over pavers or concrete block for its organic feel — provides the grade transition and serves as the backdrop for the upper waterfall. A clay brick patio, chosen for its natural and tactile character, creates the main seating area. The front yard was landscaped with a distinctly beachy feel to match the oceanside location. At completion, the fence between the two properties came down, so the original home now looks directly into this transformed yard.
